Q5: How can you guarantee so many media interviews and Feature Story placements?

Since 1987, thousands of TV, airline, radio and print media outlets have come to rely on TVA's media booking services and ready-made News Features to meet their own growing need for editorial content - often due to staff cutbacks. We utilize a nationwide team of over 140 writers, producers, directors, media strategists, and publicists who maintain a database of carefully cultivated contacts. They keep track of the editorial calendars, preferred formats and running-lengths required by broadcasters and editors.

Our veteran producers, directors, writers and editors (including former CNN and top daily newspaper and wire service editors) will develop the plan to your approval, implement it, and measure the results. You will receive a monthly usage map plus actual clippings from newspapers, detailed TV, airline and radio broadcast affidavits, bar charts, pie charts and circulation data---verifying the guaranteed number of interviews, Feature Story placements and audience impressions promised you in the contract.

NOTE: To supplement the number of earned (non-paid) media placements per package chosen and to ensure we meet our contractual guarantees - we can repurpose your ads, news features, TV spotlights, VNRs, corporate DVDs etc., into branded content, e.g. advertorials, documercials and sponsored (paid) NewsBreaks™ and place them on top tier media outlets.

Q10: TVA vs. Others

There are others who claim to do the same things as TVA, but there are many significant differences:

Dollar for dollar, TVA generates higher production values and more placements than any other service in the country (to the best of our knowledge). Over 70% of the 100 largest media outlets use our bookings, programming, news feeds and Feature Stories.

We offer nine of the strongest guarantees in our industry—including complete satisfaction!

We guarantee to beat our competitors written quotes by at least 10-15%.

We distribute in the formats editors and broadcasters prefer while others just invite editors to visit their site.

We print only on 80-pound coated stock --- the best quality for reproduction.

We send out stories at least once a week. Other services send out monthly---or some do seasonal supplements. Our deadlines for special dates (holidays, etc.) are easier to meet because we distribute weekly.

Your Features are also posted on the internet for at least six months for easy editor pickup.

Our weekly distribution and programming schedule allows for ongoing or weekly series.

We offer targeting to minority media (Hispanic, African American and Asian) for the lowest rates in the industry.

We can provide regional distribution when necessary.

By using several major monitoring and clipping bureaus, we obtain the most precise Neilsen-based usage reports and maximum number of clippings.

We will send you monthly, full-color usage reports with graphs, charts, information on viewership, circulation, readership, number of placements and equivalent ad space cost. We also include a map of the U.S. with a pin dot for each placement, demographic information on wealth, population, rank of market reached and a top 100 markets checklist. We also give descriptions for circulation area covered (towns and cities the media outlets reached)---all so management can see at a glance your success in major markets.

Your News Features can be presented as a byline by your designated spokesperson.

A majority of our articles are "evergreen" in that they are written to place throughout the year, which provides an increase of placement over time. We can also release time-sensitive news (i.e., announcing deadlines) with enough lead-time.

We are a one-stop script-to-screen shop for media production, distribution, placement and monitoring!

All of this translates into better placement success for you!

Q11: How can TVA cost less than doing it in-house?

We spread the cost of production, printing, duplicating, mailing and postage over several jobs. To do this on your own, the cost to create and send out to each of the broadcasters and editors in their preferred formats would cost you several times more. For instance, to do a Print Release, costs for your letterhead, printing, envelopes and postage alone would be at least $1.00 each or $10,250 to reach all of the newspapers in the country (double this amount if photos are included or the envelopes weigh more).

For television, the savings are even more dramatic!

We have our own production facilities, coast-to-coast staff, worldwide distribution & tracking resources.

We have a team of over 140 people including a large Media Relations Department to maintain our database and to keep track of what formats do best and which formats broadcasters and editors need.

There is a high turnover of editors and broadcasters in the industry. Our Media Department keeps track of who is where and follows users from one media outlet to another.

Many of our clients have the expertise to achieve major placements but include our distribution in their media mix as a cost-efficient way of creating additional impact primarily in the second tier media, especially in wealthy suburbs. (Note that over 70 percent of the largest media also use our stories).

Instead of just covering the same outlets everyone else in America is trying to get into, we give your top story to practically ALL of North America's 1st and 2nd tier outlets. A large number of these outlets are not on the wires or typical press mailing lists. Note that 2nd tier outlets tend to have excellent audience pickup due to their heavy local editorial and advertising content.

We send camera-ready copy, which is the only format many editors will accept. They are low on staff and time and need something that is ready to run. Most top-500 dailies now use camera-ready releases and are using fewer manuscript releases.

Editors are used to receiving our stories every week. If you send out a release on your own, the editor may not look at it.

TVA is more than a distributor. We will also write or edit copy, at no additional charge, and provide layout and artwork suggestions. We're also a full service multimedia production company with a 20,000 sq. studio equipped with the latest High Definition, digital and standard broadcast capabilities.

We don’t stop there! Clippings are included in our fee. We use four clipping services. Once the clippings start to come in, you will get a monthly report analyzing your results. We will show you how much it would have cost to run advertisements in all the papers your story has appeared in.

Q17: Where do you get your information?

Your product, service, cause and organization is our starting point. Our veteran producers, directors and editors (including former CNN and top daily newspaper and wire service editors) know what pulls best in this market. They’ll edit your releases or write a new series based on your materials and today’s issues and trends. Our Emmy & Golden Mike winning news team will develop the plan to your approval, implement it, and measure the results.

Q18: Why are editors happy to run TVA-distributed stories?

We create feature stories that programming directors and editors throughout the country pick up because they find something new or helpful to their audience—and because they're always eager to fill their shows and publications with quality content. TVA has a long-standing relationship with editors and broadcasters (since 1987). Our Media Relations Department is keeping track of who the contacts are at each publication or stations and what format each needs to receive.

Your distribution is not to a media list from a directory but to carefully cultivated contacts who rely heavily on these releases and who take the time to send us usage cards and clippings. Editors and broadcasters receive releases specifically tailored to their needs: repro proofs (camera ready), CD, diskettes, Internet (computer ready), wide and narrow column widths, etc.

Over 90% of TV news programs rely on independently produced news feeds (particularly when it comes to covering positive news stories). 67% of all dailies and 90% of all newspapers have under 30,000 in circulation. The editors of these papers are low on staff, low on time and need something that is ready to run. They are hungry for good feature releases in camera-ready or computer-ready copy form.

Q19: How long does it take?

We'll send you a story to approve within five working days of hearing from you. Once you give us the OK, it takes about a day for the story to be on the Web, approximately three weeks to start appearing in the newspapers. 4-6 weeks is an average schedule for us to go from script to screen / dubs to distribution for TV. Same for radio placements. Most usage will be within the first two months though some stories run for a year or more. Print reports will be sent once a month for every period that you receive clips for up to a year after distribution.

Q20: How do we get started?

Simply let us know which of our services you are interested in and we’ll email an Agreement detailing our guarantees---or click here for a free Media Needs Analysis, customized Proposal and Mock-up.

Our writers and artists are happy to offer copy, art and layout suggestions based on your background material, press releases, VNR, brochures, Web pages, annual reports, position papers or whatever else you have on hand. There is no cost or obligation for this.
